CARE THAT HONORS CAPACITY

breaking down our rate framework

How We Approach Rates at Homebody Psychotherapy

At Homebody Psychotherapy, we believe that healing should be accessible, and that no one should feel ashamed for needing support. Our tiered rate structure was created with care, compassion, and an understanding that our financial realities are shaped by many things, including systemic oppression, generational wealth access, debt, and the invisible labor we carry each day.

We offer a flexible, trust-based model rooted in anti-oppressive and community-centered values. Rather than a traditional sliding scale, our rate structure invites you to reflect on your financial capacity and choose a rate that feels both accessible and honest for your circumstances. You won’t be asked to prove your income or justify your choice. Your word is enough.

If you're feeling uncertain about what rate makes the most sense for you, you’re not alone. That’s why we created a short reflection form to help you think through your unique financial context. Whether you’re navigating inconsistent income, supporting family, or figuring out how therapy fits into your budget for the first time, this form can serve as a gentle guide.

Our goal is never to gatekeep healing. We simply ask that, if you have the means to pay a higher rate, you do so in the spirit of mutual care. This helps us keep therapy sustainable for those who might otherwise be priced out.

No matter where you land, you are welcome here. You deserve support.

  • Sustainer Rate – $250 - $350/session (Full Fee)

This rate reflects the full cost of a session and supports the true value of the time, labor, training, and resources required to run Homebody Psychotherapy. Clients paying at this level help sustain the practice’s operational needs and subsidize lower-fee sessions for others. This rate is ideal for individuals with financial stability, disposable income, and/or access to generational wealth or institutional support.

Paying at this tier helps Homebody Psychotherapy thrive and extend care to a broader community.

  • Community Rate – $200 - $249/session

This reduced rate is intended for those who may not have access to substantial disposable income but can still invest in regular therapy. It offers a balance between affordability and sustainability. Clients who pay this rate help cover operating costs while also ensuring that therapy remains accessible to others.

This tier reflects shared investment in both your care and the long-term vision of Homebody Psychotherapy.

  • Supported Rate – $150 - $199/session

The Supported Rate is designed for those navigating financial hardship, economic instability, or systemic barriers that make full-fee therapy inaccessible. This tier is subsidized by higher-paying clients and ensures that quality mental health care is not limited to those with wealth.

Accessing this rate is not about proving need—it’s about honoring where you are, without shame or scarcity.

  • Sliding Scale Tier – $50–$149/session

This flexible range is for those who need greater affordability and are navigating financial hardship, underemployment, caregiving responsibilities, student debt, or systemic marginalization. The client and therapist will work together to identify a rate within this range that honors both financial reality and therapeutic commitment.

Designed to meet you where you are—without shame, assumptions, or proof of need.

  • Pro-Bono Tier – $0/session (Limited Availability)

A small number of fully subsidized sessions are reserved for individuals who are experiencing acute financial hardship or systemic oppression that makes payment impossible at this time. These slots are prioritized for queer and trans people of color, survivors, and those navigating chronic crisis or displacement.

These sessions are offered as an act of mutual care and a commitment to community wellness.
